Nicotine, Events
Broughton Chief Scientific Officer, Chris Allen shares his thoughts ahead of this year's Global Tobacco & Nicotine Forum (GTNF) taking place in London on 21-23rd September 2021.
Continuing Change: Innovation and Sustainability
Next week sees the start of GTNF 2021 - Continuing Change: Innovation and Sustainability, and Broughton is both sponsoring and attending this year’s conference in person.
GTNF is one of the industry’s leading events, attracting the world’s leading experts, enabling them to share their views on the current and future political and public health landscape. Considering the high number of Marketing Denial Orders (MDOs) recently issued by the US FDA, yet no Marketing Orders, this topic is likely to be high on the agenda as to whether this will have a positive or negative effect on the public health of the US population.
The focus this year is on sustainability and innovation, covering topics such as:
- Sustainable Strategies to Stamp out the Illegal Trade of Tobacco Products
- What is Next for Tobacco and Nicotine?
- Innovation as the Path to Progress
Panel Discussion
In addition, Broughton’s Chief Regulatory Officer Dr. Nveed Chaudhary, will be joining the panel discussing how science can drive innovation. In particular, Nveed will be addressing the importance of going beyond simply reducing the levels of toxicants and the importance of addressing the need to facilitate off-ramping of existing adult smokers, yet avoiding the risk of appeal to non-smokers, especially youth. Undoubtedly, this is a hot topic when considering these items are the fundamental reasons we have seen so many Marketing Denial Orders from the US FDA recently. Panel: Science Driving Innovation takes place 12:50–13:50pm on Thursday, Sept. 23.
This will certainly be an engaging event and an opportunity to network with and hear the views of the world’s leading scientific, regulatory, public health, and political experts.
